I'm working with a business looking to add an Engineering Manager to their technology team. This is a people and delivery-focused leadership role rather than a hands-on coding position. You'll be responsible for supporting a team of engineers, removing blockers, improving delivery and helping create an environment where people can do their best work.

Working closely with Architecture, Product and senior technical stakeholders, you'll help turn technical strategy into successful delivery while driving engineering standards and continuous improvement across the team. The business has around 100 engineers, with the vast majority based in and around Manchester. They're continuously investing heavily in their platform and technology, giving teams the opportunity to work on large-scale systems, modern cloud technologies and complex engineering challenges in a genuinely engineering-led environment.

Engineering is at the heart of everything they do. It's a fun environment, you'll be trusted to let your team work independently. Teams are given real ownership and autonomy, deploy frequently, move quickly and aren't bogged down by unnecessary process or layers of approval. They're open to engineers from any development background and technology stack.

Previous hands-on engineering experience is important, but they're far more interested in your ability to lead teams, improve delivery and work effectively with technical stakeholders. Exposure to AWS would be beneficial.

This role would suit someone who enjoys helping engineers succeed, improving ways of working and creating high-performing teams while remaining close to technical decision-making without needing to be hands-on.

I imagine most Engineering Managers aren't actively looking for a new role, so I've turned off the CV requirement for applications. You can apply using just your LinkedIn profile and I'll reach out to run through the role with you. We can cross the CV bridge later if it looks like it could be a good fit.
