One of the North West’s largest engineering platforms is going through a huge modernisation journey after completing a major migration onto its own proprietary platform. The scale is massive, with millions of users globally and large-scale distributed systems. High availability infrastructure running 24/7 where reliability, automation and performance genuinely matter.

They’re now looking for a Senior Platform Engineer to help shape the next phase of their platform and cloud engineering environment. This is a heavily hands-on role focused around:

  • Kubernetes & cloud-native infrastructure
  • AWS platform engineering
  • CI/CD & GitOps
  • Terraform & Infrastructure as Code
  • Automation & internal tooling
  • Reliability, observability & developer experience

The environment itself is what stood out most. This isn’t a place where Platform Engineers are treated like ticket machines sitting away from engineering teams. Platform, DevOps and Software Engineers work very closely together, with a genuine focus on improving how engineering operates across the business. There’s also a lot of investment going into modern engineering practices and reducing operational overhead properly rather than endlessly patching legacy problems.

Tech across the environment includes:

  • Kubernetes
  • AWS (most of the platform)
  • Terraform
  • Ansible
  • Grafana
  • Prometheus
  • Datadog
  • Splunk
  • VMware

Don't worry if you don't have all this tech. It is just to show you what they work with. Please still apply if you are interested. This is a good fit for someone from a Platform Engineering, DevOps or SRE background who enjoys solving complex infrastructure problems and building scalable internal platforms.

One of the more underrated things about the business is the tenure. A lot of engineers stay long-term (5+ years) because the technical challenges remain interesting, whilst the environment itself stays stable and well-supported. No CV needed initially, either. Happy to start with a LinkedIn profile and take it from there.
