Brand new role - £80K–£100K base salary + bonus + strong benefits. 2 days a week in Manchester, 37.5-hour contract. One of the North West’s biggest tech platforms is looking for a Lead DBA to join a large-scale engineering environment used by millions of customers globally. The business has recently completed a huge migration onto its own proprietary platform, which has opened the door to a lot of modernisation and platform engineering work across scalability, reliability, automation and performance.

This is a hands‑on leadership role where you’ll help shape the future of the database estate whilst mentoring other DBAs and working closely with engineering, DevOps and platform teams. You’ll be involved in things like:

  • HA, replication, clustering and DR strategy
  • Performance tuning and troubleshooting complex issues
  • Automation around deployments, patching and backups
  • CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code
  • Improving reliability, observability and operational standards

They’re mainly looking for experience across MariaDB, MySQL, MongoDB, Linux, Terraform and Ansible. Good fit for someone who enjoys solving complex engineering problems in a high‑traffic 24/7 platform environment, whilst still having flexibility and a strong engineering culture around them.
