Internship programs are designed to allow foreign college and university students or recent graduates to come to the United States to gain exposure to U.S. culture and to receive hands-on experience in U.S. business practices in their chosen occupational field.

Placement Locations: Placements are normally made in 3 to 5 star hotels and resorts. The companies are located throughout the USA.

Placement Visa Type: J1 Exchange Visa

Salary: Salary rates vary but participants can expect to receive approx $15.00-$25.00 per hour and upwards for 32-40 hours per week. This may vary between different establishments. Overtime rates also vary and may be available during busy periods. Tips are normally shared between employees.

Accommodation and Meals: Many placements come with live-out housing. The deduction for accommodation and meals is approximately $600.00 USD per month and upwards which is paid monthly from salary. Some host properties provide housing at subsidised rates.

Program Eligibility:

  • Student Intern: Current Students of Hospitality and Culinary related degrees/diplomas: Hotel Management; Culinary Management; Tourism.
  • Intern: Recent Graduates of Hospitality and Culinary related degrees/diplomas: Hotel Management; Culinary Management; Tourism.
  • Trainee: Graduates of Hospitality and Culinary related degrees/diplomas: Hotel Management; Culinary Management; Tourism, with 1 year related experience. Or participants with 5 years related experience.

Age: Normally participants will be aged between 18 and 35.
