The company is a dedicated residential children’s home care provider based in South London delivering high-quality, child-focused support within a safe, structured, and nurturing home environment. The organisation supports children and young people aged 8–17 with a strong emphasis on safeguarding, emotional wellbeing, and personal development. With a growing service and increasing demand for placements, the organisation is now hiring multiple Residential Children’s Support Workers to join the team and help deliver consistent, compassionate, and structured care.
A Residential Children’s Support Worker is required to support the day-to-day care of children and young people within a residential home setting. You will play a key role in providing emotional support, maintaining safety, and helping young people build independence and resilience. You will take responsibility for:
- Supporting children and young people with daily routines including meals, hygiene, education, and recreational activities
- Building positive, trusting relationships to create a safe and stable environment
- Working closely with care plans, risk assessments, and key working responsibilities
- Supporting behaviour management using de-escalation and restorative approaches
- Maintaining accurate records, incident reports, and daily logs in line with Ofsted requirements
- Working collaboratively with families, social workers, and external professionals
- Ensuring safeguarding procedures are followed at all times
- Supporting emotional, social, and behavioural development of young people
- Participating in staff meetings, supervision, and ongoing training
- Working flexibly across a rota including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins
It is ESSENTIAL for the successful candidate to have the following:
- Minimum NVQ Level 3 in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
- Valid Enhanced DBS certificate
- Subscription to the DBS Update Service
- Completion of Children’s Care / Safeguarding training or equivalent
- Experience working with children or young people in a care or support setting
Other DESIRABLE skills include:
- Experience in residential children’s homes
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and Ofsted standards
- Ability to manage challenging behaviour using positive intervention techniques
- Emotional resilience and a compassionate, child-centred approach
- Flexibility to work shifts including sleep-ins and weekends
