The role will provide strategic leadership and operational oversight across all education and training functions, ensuring T3 Training & Development Ltd delivers high-quality, compliant, and innovative apprenticeship, vocational, and commercial programmes that meet the needs of learners, employers, and regulatory bodies.

The postholder will:

  • Provide strategic leadership to the Heads of Assessment & Programme Development, Teaching Innovation & Curriculum, and Operations, creating a unified and high-performing education and training function.
  • Drive the overall quality, compliance, and continuous improvement of T3’s apprenticeship, vocational, and commercial programmes.
  • Ensure strategic alignment between curriculum design, assessment, teaching and learning, and operational delivery through active leadership of the Programme Development & Delivery Group (PDDG).
  • Act as the senior accountable leader for DfE, Ofsted, and awarding body compliance across all delivery functions.
  • Lead the development of new programmes across apprenticeship, vocational, and commercial provision, ensuring T3 remains at the forefront of sector developments.
  • Report to the Board of Directors monthly on operational and quality performance, risks, and strategic decisions across the education and training directorate.

Person Specification & Requirements

Essential

  • Degree-level qualification or equivalent professional experience in a relevant field.
  • Significant experience in a senior leadership role within an apprenticeship, further education, or vocational training environment.
  • Demonstrable experience working within an independent training provider.
  • Substantial apprenticeship experience, including knowledge of standards, DfE funding rules, and EPA requirements.
  • Demonstrable experience of leading and managing multi-disciplinary teams, including performance management and professional development.
  • Proven budget management experience, with the ability to manage resources effectively to meet organisational objectives.
  • Strong knowledge of DfE funding rules, Ofsted inspection frameworks, and awarding body compliance requirements.
  • Excellent communication, influencing, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Strong analytical and data literacy skills, with experience of using performance data to drive improvement.
  • Eligible for an enhanced DBS check.
  • Must be able to work from the head office in Barnsley.

Preferred

  • Experience working within the construction or engineering sector, or delivering construction-related apprenticeships.
  • Experience of business development and growth within a training environment.
  • Proven experience in a commercial training environment, with an understanding of the commercial drivers of a training business.
  • Teaching, training, or assessing qualification (e.g. AET, PGCE, CAVA or equivalent).
  • Level 5 or above management or leadership qualification (e.g. CMI, ILM or equivalent).
