Our client is one of the UK’s leading providers of filtration systems and water pump solutions, including design, supply, installation and servicing of filtration and pump systems. You will be joining a team of dedicated professionals providing a wide range of services from pump station design, installation and maintenance. As we grew, we also developed a successful drainage capability and large tanker fleet, taking our offering from simply pumping solutions, to providing a complete ‘water in, waste out’ service.
The Engineering Business Development Manager (BDM) plays a critical role in driving the growth and expansion of the company’s engineering services or products. This individual is responsible for identifying, developing, and nurturing business opportunities with both new and existing clients. The role requires a blend of technical understanding, commercial acumen, and excellent relationship-building skills to effectively communicate the company’s engineering solutions and secure business deals.
The Role
This role will be predominantly office based at our HQ in Kent. You will be responsible for developing and growing new business accounts for the business. You will have responsibility for the full process from generating leads, presenting business opportunities and managing those new and existing client relationships.
The role would be perfect for someone who has proven sales experience within key industries such as Utilities, Aviation, Rail, Industrial, Manufacturing or Residential. The ideal candidate will have an inquisitive nature and the process of mapping out your business in order to maximise all client relationships is your set purpose.
Must have candidate experience:
- 5+ years of experience in business development or sales, within an engineering or technical services environment.
- Proven track record of driving revenue growth and closing large-scale deals.
- Experience in managing client relationships, including negotiating contracts and managing expectations.
- Prior experience in working with technical teams to deliver engineering solutions.
- A positive self-starter with the ability to demonstrate commitment to your work.
- Be up-to-date with social media LinkedIn trends and best practices.
- An energetic, tenacious and positive in outlook.
- Strong understanding of engineering products and services, along with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Knowledge of industry standards, market trends, and regulatory requirements relevant to the engineering field.
- Familiarity with project management tools and CRM software (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot, or equivalent).
- A curious approach to your work, and an inquisitive mind.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills to evaluate customer needs and offer suitable engineering solutions.

- Full clean UK Driving license.
- Must be able to commute to Head Office in Aylesford 1-2 days per week.
