Are you a proven Business Development Manager with a track record of winning new B2B customers? Do you love the challenge of opening doors, developing opportunities and turning prospects into long-term commercial relationships? We are recruiting two Business Development Managers for an established international organisation operating within the logistics and supply chain sector.

We currently have 2 opportunities covering:

  • North – M62 Corridor / North of England: Ideally based within Yorkshire, Greater Manchester or surrounding areas.
  • South – South Midlands / South of England: Ideally based within Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Northamptonshire or surrounding areas.

Both positions are home and field based, with plenty of autonomy to manage your own diary and territory.

The Opportunity

These are genuine new business / hunter roles. You won't simply inherit a comfortable portfolio of customers to maintain. You'll be responsible for identifying target organisations, opening doors, developing your own pipeline and ultimately winning new business. Working with organisations across FMCG, food & beverage, retail, manufacturing, logistics and distribution, you'll develop relationships with key decision-makers and take a consultative approach to understanding their operational and supply chain requirements. You'll manage the full sales process, from identifying and approaching prospective customers through to meetings, proposals, commercial negotiations and close. You'll have the freedom to develop your territory in your own way, whilst having the backing, training and credibility of a successful international organisation behind you.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Identifying and winning new B2B customers across your territory
  • Building your own pipeline through proactive prospecting, cold calling, networking, referrals, LinkedIn and market research
  • Arranging and attending face-to-face customer meetings and site visits
  • Developing relationships with procurement, operational and senior commercial decision-makers
  • Understanding customers' operational and supply chain challenges
  • Presenting tailored, consultative commercial solutions
  • Managing the complete sales cycle from initial approach through to negotiation and close
  • Developing opportunities across FMCG, retail, food & beverage, manufacturing, logistics and distribution
  • Maintaining accurate CRM, pipeline and forecasting information
  • Working closely with internal commercial and operational teams
  • Managing your own diary and territory effectively

Who Are We Looking For?

We're much more interested in what you've achieved than your current job title. You could currently be working as a:

  • Business Development Manager
  • Territory Sales Manager
  • Field Sales Executive
  • Sales Executive
  • Account Manager
  • National Account Manager
  • Regional Sales Manager

What matters is that you can demonstrate a track record of personally generating opportunities and winning new business. Experience within logistics, supply chain, transport, distribution, pallets, pallet pooling, packaging, FMCG, foodservice, retail or manufacturing would be advantageous, but isn't essential. We're equally interested in an outstanding B2B salesperson from another commercial sector who has the resilience, confidence and hunter mentality required to develop a territory. You'll need to be comfortable picking up the phone, approaching prospective customers, getting out to meetings and building relationships from scratch. You'll also be commercially astute, consultative in your approach and confident dealing with senior decision-makers. As this is a field-based position, you'll need to be self-motivated, well organised and comfortable managing your own diary and territory. A full UK driving licence is essential.

What's On Offer?

  • £45,000 basic salary
  • 10% annual bonus
  • Company car
  • Excellent benefits package
  • Home and field-based working
  • Excellent training and support
  • Established international organisation
  • Genuine long-term career opportunities

If you're a successful B2B salesperson who gets a buzz from opening doors, winning customers and building a territory, we'd love to hear from you. Whether you're based in the North around the M62 corridor or across the South/South Midlands, please apply today for immediate consideration. Please include your location when applying so we can consider you for the appropriate territory.
