Overview

Newcastle onsite (relocation considered). Due to programme security requirements, this role is open to sole UK nationals only. Candidates must be eligible for or already hold SC clearance.

Tools: Embedded C, C++, Rust

Responsibilities:

  • Lead a pod/squad of 6 developers on embedded systems work, typically in C/C++ and/or Rust in real time and safety critical environments.
  • Work with peripherals (SPI, I2C, UART, CAN), industrial platforms and communications, and contribute to defence systems including drones, defence AI and intelligence, and command-and-control systems.
  • Collaborate to maintain and improve engineering standards and processes within the team.

About you / Qualifications:

  • Proven track record of performant pod or squad leadership in low level embedded environments in C/C++ and/or Rust.
  • Curious leadership with high EQ, capable of solving stakeholder problems and delivering high-quality engineering outcomes.
  • Experience in low level embedded development and working with peripherals (SPI, I2C, UART, CAN) and real-time/safety-critical systems.
  • Eligible for or holding SC clearance; sole UK national as required.
