Environmental Health and Safety Manager to join our Christchurch Team!
The Business Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Lead will provide technical EHS expertise and professional knowledge, along with strong leadership and management skills to continuously improve EHS performance and maintain compliance throughout the business.
The Business EHS Lead will work closely with business and site leadership and Global (US, India & China) Corporate EHS to lead business-wide initiatives, provide technical EHS expertise to manufacturing sites, and will be responsible for directing the business-wide implementation of the CW EHS Management System Framework.

- Your Challenge
- Lead and direct business and site leadership and EHS personnel on the effective implementation of CW EHS Management System Framework throughout the business.
- Develop and coordinate business-wide initiatives to facilitate a strong safety culture through worker participation and leadership engagement.
- Coordinate with business and site leadership to establish and execute performance improvement goals, and ensure appropriate technical EHS capabilities and resources throughout the business to achieve the commitments in the CW EHS Policy and Safety Absolutes.
- Serve as the business EHS regulatory subject matter expert.
Determine site-specific applicable compliance requirements and maintain required EHS permits, licenses, certifications, registrations, etc.
Provide technical regulatory site support and develop site-specific regulatory compliance programs, inspection protocols, compliance calendars, etc.
- Directly support sites with implementing workplace hazard identification and control processes (e. g., job safety analyses; non-routine task hazard reviews; workplace exposure assessments; worker observations and concerns; workplace inspections; managing changes in equipment, facilities, chemicals and procedures; contractor qualification and management, etc.).
- Define site-specific training requirements and provide training for site personnel where EHS technical expertise is warranted.
- Develop site-specific emergency response plans and support sites with conducting routine emergency response drills.
- Facilitate incident root cause analyses and identify appropriate corrective actions to prevent incident recurrence.
- Manage business-wide EHS data compilation and reporting of site EHS lagging and leading metrics in the CW EHS Portal, and energy data in the Enel X UBM platform on a monthly basis.
- Analyze and interpret site performance metrics to proactively eliminate incidents, reduce lost workdays and improve overall performance through the development and execution of strategic initiatives and corrective actions.
- Coordinate the completion of site CW EHS Framework Scorecards on a quarterly basis.
- Review and communicate business-wide EHS performance to business leadership monthly. Prepare business EHS QFR and review with business leadership.
- Serve as an active member of the CW EHS Council, and proactively interact with Corporate EHS and other EHS Business Leaders to share and leverage best practices, lessons learned and experiences gained.
What You Bring
- Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations, environmental protection requirements, hazardous waste management, environmental compliance, industrial safety, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Eight (8) or more years of hands-on experience in providing technical manufacturing site EHS support.
- Experience in ISO 14001 and 45001
- Minimum NEBOSH NGC (national general certificate) or IOSH Diploma Level 6
- Experience implementing and maintaining EHS management systems and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Familiarity with quality management systems, and experience partnering with quality organizations to improve operational performance.
- Demonstrated success leading audits, regulatory inspections, compliance initiatives, and organizational change.
- Strong leadership, coaching, organizational development, and stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to influence business leaders and drive cross-functional collaboration.
