Role Description

This is a full-time, on‑site role based in Morpeth covering the north east of England for a Bitumen combi sprayer operator/driver.

The role involves operating and driving bitumen combi spraying equipment to apply road surfacing materials in line with project specifications and safety standards.

Day‑to‑day tasks include preparing the sprayer and vehicle for use, checking materials and equipment, carrying out bitumen spraying operations, and performing basic maintenance and cleaning of machinery.

The operator/driver will follow site instructions, work closely with other site personnel, and adhere to all health and safety regulations and traffic management requirements.

The role also includes completing relevant documentation, reporting any equipment issues, and supporting general site duties when required.

Qualifications

  • Ability to safely operate bitumen combi sprayers and related road surfacing equipment, with a focus on accurate application and equipment care.
  • Valid class 2 HGV driving license minimum for operating the required vehicle type; experience driving commercial or construction vehicles is highly beneficial, full training will be provided.
  • Strong awareness of health and safety practices, including PPE use, safe working near traffic, and adherence to site procedures and regulations.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude for carrying out routine checks, minor adjustments, and maintenance on spraying and vehicle equipment.
  • Experience in civil engineering, road surfacing, or construction environments, with the ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Reliable time management, attention to detail, and the ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a site team.
  • Good communication skills for coordinating with supervisors, colleagues, and other site personnel.
