V Vaughan Ltd is looking for a Junior SHE Advisor to join the team. This role suits a newly qualified SHE professional with some on-site experience or experience as a SHE coordinator who is eager to step up and develop their career in a fast-paced and varied construction environment. The post holder will be based primarily at Head Office with some days on site, providing critical support for day-to-day SHE administration, training coordination, document control and operational activities. The role will be supported by the SHEQ Manager and is an excellent opportunity for learning and growth within the company. The role requires someone who has a passion for health and safety, is adaptable, has a sharp eye for details, the ability to problem solve, manage workload efficiently and is happy to travel to different locations across the UK.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Administration & Document Control
    • Carry out general SHE administrative tasks to support the wider team
    • Maintain and update document control systems, ensuring version accuracy and accessibility
    • Review, quality check and file SHE documentation in line with company procedures
    • Manage and maintain electronic filing systems including Google Drive and Dropbox
    • Assist/carry out inductions and assist the document process
  • Training & Skills Management
    • Coordinate and book SHE training activities across the business
    • Maintain and update the company skills matrix, tracking training completions and expiry dates
    • Issue training reminders and follow up on outstanding requirements
    • Assist in the production and delivery of toolbox talks, including scheduling, recording attendance and filing records
  • Systems & Technology
    • Operate and maintain SHE management software including FieldView, Go Audits and Chimeapps
    • Use Microsoft Office packages (Word, Excel, Outlook) to a high standard for reporting, correspondence and data management
    • Maintain accurate records across all digital platforms used by the team
  • Site Visits & Operational Support
    • Conduct regular site visits to support SHE activities on the ground
    • Assist in carrying out site inspections and producing associated reports
    • Liaise with site teams to promote and monitor compliance with SHE requirements
    • Assist in near miss and incident investigation and reporting
  • Accreditations & Quality
    • Assist with the maintenance and renewal of company accreditations (e.g. ISO, CHAS, Constructionline or equivalent)
    • Support quality control processes, reviewing documentation for accuracy and compliance
    • Contribute to the preparation of audit evidence and corrective action tracking

Person specification & Skills

  • Essential
    • Minimum 1 year of SHE experience in similar or H&S admin/co-ordinator role
    • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages (Word, Excel, Outlook)
    • Confident and competent IT user across multiple platforms
    • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
    • Good written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to effectively manage workload and time/diary
    • Willingness to undertake site visits and travel as required
  • Desirable
    • NEBOSH Certificate Level 3 (National General or Construction)
    • Document control experience
    • Experience based on or visiting working construction sites
    • Experience/knowledge of construction skills certifications (CITB, CSCS, NPORS etc.)
    • Experience with FieldView or similar SHE management software
    • Familiarity with accreditation processes (e.g. ISO 45001, CHAS)
