We are seeking Senior Quantity Surveyors at TSS, you will work closely with Commercial Managers to lead all quantity surveying and related activities across the business. You will advise on all QS work undertaken for and with clients, developing and maintaining strong client relationships. You will oversee complex infrastructure projects, providing expert leadership and guidance to ensure projects are delivered efficiently, on budget, and to TSS’s high standards of quality, compliance, and technical excellence. A key part of the role is mentoring and developing the Quantity Surveying team, ensuring consistent, high-quality commercial delivery across all projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead cost estimation, budgeting and financial management across complex projects.
- Oversee contract administration and negotiation, including claims and dispute resolution.
- Identify opportunities for value engineering and cost optimisation.
- Lead commercial risk management, reviewing risks and mitigation plans throughout the project lifecycle.
- Mentor and supervise the Quantity Surveying team, promoting best practice and TSS standards.
- Manage client relationships and project stakeholders, ensuring satisfaction and clear communication.
- Conduct cost analysis, benchmarking and market research to support informed decision-making.
Skills & Experience
- Extensive experience in quantity surveying or commercial management within the infrastructure sector, with a proven track record of delivering complex projects successfully.
- Strong expertise in cost estimation, budgeting, financial control, and commercial risk management across the project lifecycle.
- Excellent leadership and mentoring skills, with the ability to develop and guide a team of Quantity Surveyors to achieve high standards.
- Proven client management experience, including building strong relationships, managing expectations, and resolving commercial issues effectively.
- Excellent analytical, numerical, reporting, and negotiation skills, with sound commercial judgement and confident decision-making under pressure.
- Solid knowledge of construction practices, infrastructure delivery, contract administration, and relevant industry standards.
- Membership of a professional body such as Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors or SCSI, or working toward chartership (MRICS/APM).
- Knowledge of cost benchmarking, value optimisation, and consultancy environments.
- Full UK driving licence.
