We are seeking Commercial Managers to lead the commercial delivery and performance of a portfolio of clients and projects. You will oversee financial and contractual positions from bid stage through to final account, ensuring strong commercial outcomes through effective cost control, risk management and contractual governance. As a senior client-facing leader, you will provide strategic commercial advice, strengthen client partnerships and support sustainable business growth. You will also lead and develop a high-performing commercial team, fostering accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the commercial management of a portfolio of projects, ensuring financial performance, contractual compliance and robust governance.
- Oversee budgets, cost control, forecasting and cashflow to protect profitability and support informed decision-making.
- Review and negotiate contracts, proactively identifying and managing commercial risks.
- Manage claims, disputes, and commercial risks in collaboration with project teams and legal advisors.
- Oversee procurement and subcontractor management, including selection, negotiation and performance monitoring.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted commercial advisor.
- Support business development through commercial input into bids, proposals and service delivery.
- Lead, mentor and develop the commercial and quantity surveying team, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations and industry standards, promoting ethical conduct and best practice.
Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related discipline.
- Professional membership (e.g., Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) or working towards chartership.
- Extensive experience in quantity surveying or commercial management within infrastructure, successfully delivering complex projects.
- Strong contract administration skills, including drafting, reviewing and negotiating agreements.
- Expertise in cost estimation, budgeting, financial control, and commercial governance.
- Leadership experience managing and developing teams, coordinating workloads and mentoring staff.
- Excellent client management, interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Competent in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Experience in a consultancy environment.
- Knowledge of cost benchmarking and value optimisation techniques.
- Full UK driving licence.
