Role Summary
This Technical Architect will support the Client Journey, with an initial focus on Onboarding, consisting of the end-to-end experience for the client. The desired experience of the Client Journey encompasses the processes that are performed, as well as a thorough connection to the systems that support the work. There is a need for a Technical Architect to help develop technology architecture blueprints for the Architecture Review Board (ARB). This role sits within the Enterprise Architecture function of T Rowe Price but will be 100% aligned and dedicated to the Client Journey deliverable.
It is the responsibility of the Technical Architect to support the definition of business requirements, define the target state for the Client Journey, and then lead the development of the target state architecture (alongside delivery channel architects and developers) to meet this target state. This includes providing technical leadership, consultancy, and facilitation of the design process, and delivering the socialized and approved architecture to the delivery teams after ARB approval.
Responsibilities
- The Technical Architect will demonstrate competencies across three key dimensions:
- Deliver Future-State Solution Architecture
- Reports to the Head of Enterprise Architecture – Applications
- Collaborates with the Enterprise Architecture team to ensure technical decisions align with TRP's strategic vision
- Works with the Client Journey team to understand business requirements and the journey to the target state
- Supports the delivery team with architecture understanding, coaching, and mentoring during initial design and development phases
- Drives digital innovation by leveraging emerging technologies to transform the existing IT estate
- Analyzes and Evaluates Technology
- Understands strategic EA-driven technical goals and their implementation within the client journey program
- Guides project deliverables to ensure architectural and business requirements are met while minimizing technical debt
- Advises project teams on technology initiatives, aligning with current trends
- Ensures adherence to EA principles and governance processes
- Leads and Collaborates to Deliver Business Outcomes
- Ensures architecture aligns with business drivers and requirements
- Maintains stakeholder alignment throughout architecture development
- Collaborates with product managers, owners, and EA peers to support infrastructure agility and resilience
- Documents architecture design and analysis work as needed
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent plus 5+ years of relevant experience
- Deep knowledge in at least two technical disciplines such as infrastructure, application development, APIs, middleware, servers/storage, databases, virtualization, cloud, or Active Directory
- Experience with diverse technical configurations and environments
- Understanding of product management, agile methodologies, and supporting agile teams
- Strong leadership, facilitation, and negotiation skills
- Proficiency in design principles and patterns
- Excellent troubleshooting skills
- Knowledge of IT standards, controls, and SDLC methodologies
Preferred:
- Organizational savvy and ability to navigate global corporate politics
- Big picture and short-term perspective-taking skills
- Ability to apply multiple technical solutions to enable future business capabilities
- Quick comprehension of existing and emerging technologies
Work Flexibility
This role is eligible for hybrid work, with up to three days per week from home.
