Role Summary
T. Rowe Price’s Investment Fellowship Program offers university undergraduate and graduate students within mathematics, engineering, and the sciences a challenging quantitative opportunity to thrive in the financial industry, which is increasingly quantitative and data-driven. Fellows will receive training, mentoring, and hands-on experience in investment tasks such as quantitative research and analysis, trading research, and investment decision support. The program features rotations approximately every 6 months for up to 2 years across key departments:
- Trading / Portfolio Modeling (Equity and Fixed Income)
- Quantitative Research – Equity, Fixed Income, Multi Asset
- Enterprise Risk
- Distribution Channels
You will leverage your analytical and quantitative skills, working on projects and assignments across various business units, and develop knowledge and skills in:
- Portfolio Modeling
- Quantitative Portfolio Analysis / Portfolio Attribution / Portfolio Construction
- Multi Asset Research
- Quantitative Analysis / Research and Trading Research
- Transaction Cost Analysis
- Enterprise and Portfolio Risk Analysis
- Competitive Analysis and Market Intelligence
- Predictive Analytics
Responsibilities
Responsibilities will vary based on rotational placement but may include:
- Determining the value of a security by examining its numerical, measurable characteristics, such as revenues, earnings, margins, and market share
- Searching for exploitable patterns in data to reinforce or alter portfolio managers’ behaviour and avoid unintended consequences
- Evaluating derivatives as risk-adjusted return enhancement strategies for portfolios
- Assessing portfolio structure to manage risks of style drift
- Analysing transaction costs and trade execution performance
- Measuring and optimising broker and algorithm performance, and evaluating trading strategies
- Assessing derivative exposure in portfolios, liquidity analysis on balance sheets, redemption analysis studies, and competitor analysis research
- Analysing exposure to risk and determining how best to handle such exposure
- Dividing investments among different asset classes (e.g., stocks, bonds, real estate, cash) to optimise risk/reward trade-offs based on an individual’s or institution’s goals
- Analysing data gathered and used by a company to learn about its competition in a given market
Required Qualifications
- Recent graduate or full-time student with an expected graduation date of December 2025 – May/June 2026 and a minimum 2.1 grade achieved at university
- Strong preference for STEM subjects including Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science and/or Physics, or similar Analytical degrees
- Knowledge of investments, portfolios, and stock trading strongly preferred.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to solve problems while showing intellectual curiosity.
- Savvy usage of technology and a data driven mindset.
- Coding skills with R and/or Python and knowledge of AI are strongly preferred.
- Ability to process a variety of information and quickly draw relevant conclusions and summarise results
Work Flexibility
This role is eligible for hybrid work, with up to one day per week from home.
