Role Summary

The Equity Risk Director leads a global equity risk team at T. Rowe Price, overseeing market‑risk analysis, risk analytics, and risk‑analytics tools for the equity investment division.

Responsibilities

  • Day‑to‑day Risk Management: Review and interpret equity risk analytics and dashboards, identify, measure, monitor, and communicate key portfolio risks, and conduct stress tests and tail‑risk analysis.
  • Risk Reporting & Tool Development: Prototype and develop risk reporting and interactive tools, define data requirements for dashboards and proprietary systems, and partner with Technology to support testing.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Engage with investment teams and external stakeholders, present analytical results, and respond to client, prospect, consultant, regulatory, and internal requests.
  • Ad‑hoc Analysis & Projects: Perform quantitative analyses in response to requests, collaborate with the Investment Risk team, and reconcile results with in‑house findings.

Required Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in the asset‑management industry focused on equity market risk.
  • Clear understanding of buy‑side risk management, equity investment strategies, and global financial markets.
  • Proficiency in programming and data visualization; experience with statistical analysis packages.
  • Experience with risk evaluation methods such as volatility, tracking error, and Value‑at‑Risk.
  • Experience with MSCI BarraOne, RiskManager, and performance attribution systems.
  • Strong data analysis, interpersonal, and communication skills; high integrity and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Over 10 years of direct equity risk management experience at a buy‑side asset manager.
  • Experience as a people leader.
  • Advanced programming skills (Python or R).
  • Master’s or PhD degree in quantitative or scientific discipline.
  • Progress toward professional risk or finance accreditations such as CFA, FRM, PRM.
  • Experience working for a global asset manager with personnel in multiple regions.

Work Flexibility

This role is eligible for hybrid work, with up to one day per week from home.
