Position Overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic, friendly and conscientious individual with a passion for fine jewellery to join our team as a Jewellery Sales Assistant in a full-time, permanent position. The working hours include Monday – Saturday, with Sundays and a weekday off. Some Sundays will be required in the festive period. Our normal working hours are from 8:40am until approximately 5:30pm.
This role will require you to assist customers with their enquiries and purchases, as well as maintaining the workspace and goods for sale. T. Paterson Jeweller is a busy, family‑run jeweller on Perth’s High Street. We pride ourselves on offering excellent customer service, which is demonstrated in the long‑term relationships we form with our customers. We aim to exceed our customers’ expectations, both in terms of their experience and in our selection of fine jewellery and watches, and we value the importance of listening to our customers’ needs to ensure they find the perfect jewellery for all manner of occasions.

Main Duties:
- We pride ourselves in offering excellent customer service and a warm atmosphere in our shop. First impressions count!
- You will be able to assist customers with any questions regarding our jewellery manufacturing, repairs, items for sale and our company, and guide them through the selection process. This may include the use of a computer/laptop/tablet or telephone calls to suppliers and customers.
- Training will also be given to accurately handle sales and repair enquiries.
- You will be keen to expand your retail and product knowledge to confidently offer customers the best possible information regarding our gemstones, jewellery manufacturing, design processes and more.
- You will support your colleagues while working as part of an experienced sales team and contribute to a positive and welcoming atmosphere in the shop.
- You will be IT literate and be confident using technology.
- You will also be responsible for handling cash, processing refunds, handling emails and similar administrative tasks.
- You will maintain high standards of presentation in the shop, organising displays, cleaning jewellery and general housekeeping.
Knowledge & Experience
- At least 1 year’s proven experience in either the jewellery industry (retail, design or manufacturing) or high-value one-to-one sales.
- A confident, friendly and approachable manner with a focus on excellent customer service.
- Great organisational skills, self-motivation and eager to continuously expand knowledge.
- A team player who can adapt to challenges as they arise and work effectively in a busy environment.
This role is varied but you will be supported and encouraged by our friendly team. It will at times require duties which are not listed above, as per the needs of the business.
