Role Description
This full-time Roadside Commercial Technician role is an on-site position based in Harlow.
The Technician will carry out routine vehicle inspections, diagnose faults, and perform maintenance and repair work on buses, coaches, and trucks.
Daily tasks include completing oil changes, servicing braking and suspension systems, and addressing mechanical and minor electrical issues to ensure vehicles are safe and roadworthy.
The role involves working with recovery teams to assess vehicle condition after breakdowns, preparing vehicles for return to service, and documenting all work performed.
The Automotive Technician will follow health and safety procedures, use appropriate tools and diagnostic equipment, and collaborate with colleagues and supervisors to meet operational timelines.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in Vehicle Maintenance and Maintenance & Repair for commercial and passenger vehicles.
- Practical experience with Oil Changes and routine servicing tasks.
- Proficiency in Automotive Repair, including fault diagnosis and component replacement.
- Working knowledge of Suspension systems and related safety checks.
- Relevant automotive technician qualification or apprenticeship, or equivalent experience.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and maintenance documentation.
- Strong attention to detail, adherence to safety standards, and effective time management.
- Valid driver’s license; LGV/PCV license is an advantage.
- Willingness to work in a workshop and recovery environment, including occasional flexible hours.
