T&H Civils is a growing utilities and telecommunications civils business delivering fibre infrastructure projects across the UK. Working with major telecoms providers, we're building a reputation for delivering high-quality work, safely and efficiently.
As the business continues to grow, we're looking for a Civils Manager to work alongside the Managing Director and help take the operation to the next level. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who understands the industry from the ground up and isn't afraid to roll their sleeves up when needed.
We're looking for someone who started their career on the tools, understands excavation and reinstatement works first-hand, and has progressed into leadership and operational management. You'll play a key role in managing projects, leading teams, improving processes, maintaining compliance, and helping shape the future direction of the business.
No two days will look the same. This is a role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, can think on their feet, and enjoys solving problems. One minute you may be supporting a site team, the next dealing with an operational challenge, client requirement, compliance issue, or helping improve internal processes. We need a proactive individual who enjoys firefighting when needed and can remain calm and focused under pressure.
Key Responsibilities:- Oversee the successful delivery of fibre and utility civils projects.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring work is delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
- Support project planning, scheduling, and resource allocation.
- Work closely with clients, subcontractors, local authorities, and key stakeholders.
- Monitor project performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Respond quickly and effectively to operational challenges and site issues as they arise.
- Lead, support, and develop a team of approximately 15 operatives.
- Drive a positive, accountable, and safety-first culture.
- Conduct site visits, toolbox talks, and team briefings.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and workforce development as the business grows.
- Ensure all works are completed in accordance with industry regulations and company standards.
- Maintain compliance with NRSWA, Street Works requirements, and client-specific standards.
- Oversee risk assessments, method statements, permits, and site documentation.
- Promote best practice across health, safety, quality, and environmental management.
- Ensure all relevant certifications, accreditations, and training requirements are maintained across the workforce.
- Review and improve operational processes and procedures.
- Support the Managing Director with day-to-day business operations.
- Assist in sourcing and establishing a suitable operational yard and depot facility.
- Identify efficiencies that improve productivity, quality, and profitability.
- Contribute to the continued growth and development of the business.
We're looking for a practical, proactive leader who understands what it takes to deliver civils projects successfully. You'll likely have:
- Previous experience within telecommunications civils, fibre, or utilities infrastructure.
- A background working on the tools, ideally within excavation, reinstatement, or fibre civils works.
- Experience in a Civils Manager, Operations Manager, Contracts Manager, or similar leadership role.
- Experience managing field-based teams and subcontractors.
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to remain calm under pressure and make sound decisions in challenging situations.
- A proactive, hands-on approach and a willingness to take ownership of problems rather than wait for solutions.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- A "get it done" mentality with the ability to adapt quickly as priorities change.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Experience within telecoms fibre civils projects.
- Experience managing operational teams.
- Strong understanding of health and safety legislation and compliance requirements.
- Ability to travel across the North West, with occasional travel further afield.
- NRSWA Supervisor qualification.
- SMSTS.
- Temporary Works knowledge.
- Utilities or telecoms accreditations and certifications.
Join a growing business where your contribution genuinely matters. Work directly alongside the Managing Director and influence the future direction of the company. Opportunity to build and develop operational processes as the business scales. Supportive, close-knit team environment. Long-term career progression as the company continues to expand.
