We are a growing surfacing contractor looking for a reliable and proactive HGV Driver / Transport & Plant Operative to join our team.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys a varied position combining driving, plant care, and supporting site operations.
The successful candidate will primarily operate our grab truck and hotbox, while also helping manage the day‑to‑day upkeep of our HGV and plant fleet.
Key Responsibilities
- Driving and operating grab truck and hotbox for surfacing works
- Transporting materials and equipment to and from site
- Managing vehicle checks, compliance
- Ensuring vehicles and plant are maintained and operating correctly
- Liaising with management regarding maintenance or repair requirements
- Assisting the surfacing team on site when required
- Supporting general site operations when not driving
Requirements
- Valid HGV Licence (Class 2 minimum)
- HIAB / Grab experience preferred
- CPC qualification
- Good understanding of vehicle checks and compliance requirements
- Reliable, hardworking and willing to be hands‑on
- Desirable (but not essential): Experience within surfacing or highways works; Ability to operate surfacing plant (rollers, pavers, etc.); NRSWA / Streetworks card
