We currently have an opportunity for a Systems Engineer to join our growing Systems Engineering team. We would like to hear from people with experience across any of our sectors including Rail, Nuclear and Defence; this position will suit a committed and ambitious engineer who can demonstrate strong leadership and interpersonal skills combined with commercial awareness and the ability to play their part in growing a dynamic high‑performance team.
Missions / Main Duties
- Implementing processes to capture, manage, validate, and measure the quality of Requirements.
- Ensuring traceability from client needs to detailed engineering requirements through application of a requirements structure.
- Working closely with stakeholders to elicit requirements, ensuring the resulting requirements are clear, concise, unambiguous, and achievable.
- Working with projects to ensure robust evidence for the validation and verification of Requirements.
- Implementing systems, processes and using industry‑standard tools (e.g. DOORS) to support integration, requirements and V&V.
- Promoting the use of good practice requirements management, interface management, integration and V&V principles throughout project teams.
- Delivery within time and budget.
- Maintaining and developing competence in line with the systems competence framework.
- Establishing and maintaining relationships with external parties to enhance the company reputation.
- Working collaboratively and integrating with project teams, stakeholders and third parties.
- Considering whether or not the system they are responsible for delivering can be installed, operated and maintained in such a manner to not impact upon the safety of members of the public, passengers or operators/maintainers so far as is reasonably practicable.
The Post Holder Is Responsible For
- Ensuring that systems processes are applied appropriately on their projects/programmes.
- Scaling/tailoring of systems engineering and integration processes, products and tools suitable to the needs and requirements of projects.
- Acting as technical translator between discipline‑specific engineering teams and engineering managers, project managers and project sponsors/clients.
- Supporting the development of the SYSTRA systems integration team in the UK and overseas.
- Ensuring the application of appropriate controls and technical assurance in development, design, production through to entry into service.
- Ensuring appropriate technical resources are allocated to the project.
- Implementing training plans and general awareness of staff in safety.
- Performing hierarchical safety checks and also ensuring that each line manager does the same.
- Supporting the technical director to ensure overseas production centres are briefed on all relevant standards, guidelines and procedures.
Profile / Skills
- Degree qualified in a relevant discipline.
- Experience within Systems Engineering within the Engineering field.
- Knowledge of the DOORSâ„¢ Requirements Management system.
- Demonstrable Requirements Engineering experience.
