The primary role of the Associate Director – Simulation Business Development is to utilise your substantial relevant technical expertise and industry knowledge to identify and secure work opportunities and drive growth for the Simulation sector. The role will support the promotion of SYSTRA capabilities in your area of expertise externally and internally. In collaboration with the Development and Infrastructure and Transport Planning/Advisory teams across the UK and Ireland, you will play a key role in delivering relevant bids, proposals and projects. You will also support the development of technical capabilities relevant to your area of expertise in others.

Missions/Main Duties

  • Be responsible for the development and implementation of the Simulation strategy for the UK and Ireland in collaboration with other leaders in DMA, bringing clarity and alignment across the Business Unit.
  • Identifying market opportunities for the simulation sector and effective work winning.
  • Lead on cultivating relationships with potential clients for our microsimulation offer, and developing innovative strategies to expand our client base and revenue streams.
  • Proactively support colleagues in developing technical knowledge in your area of expertise through developing and undertaking knowledge sharing and training opportunities and undertaking technical mentoring as agreed.
  • Deliver or contribute to articles/papers and external presentations relevant to your area(s) of expertise to promote SYSTRA capabilities and support the development of best practice.
  • Bid Writing: Lead the development of high-quality, compelling bids that effectively articulate our company's capabilities, expertise, and unique value proposition. Ensure submissions are well-structured, concise, and persuasive, addressing all client requirements and evaluation criteria.
  • Manage bid timelines and deadlines effectively, coordinating with internal teams to gather necessary inputs and meet submission deadlines.
  • Contract Negotiation: Lead negotiations with clients to secure contracts and agreements that are mutually beneficial and align with the company’s strategic goals.
  • Project Technical Lead: Act as Technical Lead on large projects/packages of work (£/€100-200k) or a substantial portfolio of smaller projects, ensuring that client objectives are understood and met through technical delivery.
  • Ensure that internal and external processes and procedures applicable to your business area are understood and adhered to.

Profile/Skills

  • Substantial track record of developing or inputting to relevant business strategy.
  • Substantial technical background in simulation, including extensive working knowledge of at least one of the following; Vissim, Aimsun or Paramics Discovery.
  • Deep understanding of the industry landscape relevant to our simulation offer.
  • Strong networking skills.
  • Proven ability to identify and capitalise on business opportunities.
  • Proven ability to conduct research and analysis of the sectors, including market trends, competitor activities, and potential clients' needs and preferences.
  • Substantial track record of building and maintaining strong relationships with existing and potential clients, understanding their requirements, and providing tailored solutions to meet their needs.
  • Experience of identifying and pursuing new business opportunities through proactive lead generation activities, such as networking events, industry conferences, and cold outreach.
  • Experience of leading the development of high-quality, compelling bids and ensuring submissions are well-structured, concise, and persuasive, addressing all client requirements and evaluation criteria.
  • Experience of managing bid timelines and deadlines effectively.
  • Experience of leading contract negotiations with clients to secure contracts and agreements that are mutually beneficial.
