We currently have an opportunity for a Project Controls Assistant to join our growing engineering team in York. This position within our team will suit a committed and ambitious person who can demonstrate interpersonal skills combined with mathematical knowledge and the ability to play their part in a growing dynamic high-performance team. With a focus on the Design of the UK Rail Infrastructure, the post-holder will be part of a growing team delivering projects for a diverse portfolio of UK clients. The person will undertake a six-month training programme covering the relevant areas of project controls and planning which will include:
- Planning Principles
- Primavera System Training
- Cost Management
- Technical Engineering
- Robust, Accurate Reporting both internally and externally
The Project Controls Assistant will support the team in delivering the project controls on projects ensuring:
- Structured Primavera Programme Reporting
- Timely issuing of performance reporting documents
- An organised approach to support record keeping
- Good relationships are maintained with all external parties to enhance the reputation of the company
Missions/Main Duties
Working in collaboration with our management team, designers and contract partners, the Project Controls Assistant will be involved in a variety of tasks such as:
- Working on large multi-disciplinary rail projects
- Applying the recognised Project Controls Techniques
- Building relationships with the various Work Package Managers to ensure that they understand the process, the reports content and they are actively engaged with progress reporting and management of changes and variations
- Working closely with the Project Commercial/Cost Engineering leads ensuring that all approved changes and/or variations are correctly captured and varied into the approved project budgets
- Chairing Progress Meetings and communicating clear and concise data to the Project team and the Client
- Updating all Work Package Management Agreements, and their associated change sheets monthly
- Attending Work Package Reviews and recording the meeting minutes and all actions
- Supporting project controls team with all objectives
- Extensive use of Microsoft Products

- Experience in a variety of software platforms e.g., Primavera
- Experience or interest in working with international colleagues of different technical cultures or on overseas projects

- Working knowledge of all PC based Windows environments and Microsoft Office suite
