The Principal Human Factors Consultant is expected to deliver specialised workstreams, both internally and externally and contribute expertise to bids and projects across the SYSTRA group. They are expected to apply a solid understanding of Human Factors standards and best practices to real-world challenges.
Missions/Main Duties
- Learn, write, review and issue client deliverables with necessary support.
- Act as a representative for their areas of knowledge, both within SYSTRA and externally.
- Maintain competencies to industry and company standards.
- Apply procedures and systems to ensure the safety of staff, public and others.
- Ensure the safety of staff, and others, affected by the operations effective systems and procedures.
- Support the workstream owner by delivering technical work to a high standard.
- Demonstrate behaviours aligned with SYSTRA’s behavioural framework by actively fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, respect and empowerment, contributing to an environment where all colleagues can thrive, achieve and grow together.
Profile/Skills
- Systems Human Factors approach.
- Human factors integration and assurance across the project lifecycle.
- User‑centred design approach to project delivery.
- Human error and human reliability analysis e.g., fault trees, hazard identification and risk assessments (HazID).
- Qualitative and quantitative methods to identify user requirements e.g., workshop facilitation, focus groups, interviews, questionnaires and observations.
- Methods to understand the impact of change e.g., task analyses, day in the life of (DITLO).
- Understanding of performance and safety shaping factors in the context of the wider system.
- BSc or BEng discipline specific degree qualified.
- Chartered status or working towards such accreditation with relevant professional body, e.g. IET, CIEHF.
- Membership with relevant professional body, e.g. IET, CIEHF.
- Demonstrable discipline specific industry experience.
