Position: Principal Engineer – Telecoms & Information Systems

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive advice on telecoms, SCADA, supervision and information systems for clients, covering business‑as‑usual, technical refreshes and new projects.
• Apply system knowledge creatively to complex and non‑routine contexts, delivering technical specifications for rail systems, stations, and facilities.
• Support migration planning for new or complex infrastructure, rail systems and control systems.
• Lead and manage bids and projects related to telecoms, SCADA, supervision and information systems.
• Support business‑development and sales activities in related areas.
• Build successful relationships with team members, key customers and stakeholders to enhance service value.
• Promote a systems culture within the UK engineering organisation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, systems engineering, or equivalent, with demonstrated competency in delivering telecoms, SCADA, supervision and information systems consultancy.
• Experience in systems assurance processes and railway/complex project environments.
• Excellent communication skills – active listening, concise written and verbal expression.
• Ability to articulate and pitch solutions at technical and non‑technical levels to key stakeholders.
• Track record of managing multiple projects, balancing priorities, and meeting tight deadlines.
• Team player in a multi‑disciplinary, matrix organisation.
• Strong interest in digital technologies and latest industry trends.
• Willingness to travel within the UK, Ireland and potentially overseas.
• Significant experience on railway and urban transportation telecoms, SCADA, supervision and information systems at global system and facilities level.
