ContextWe currently have an opportunity for an experienced Planner who is looking to progress their career by joining our engineering team in York or Leeds. This position will suit a committed and ambitious Planner who can demonstrate strong leadership and interpersonal skills combined with commercial awareness and the ability to play their part in growing a dynamic highâperformance team. With a focus on the design of highâspeed rail infrastructure they will also support other Market Lines in the UK and overseas, and the postâholder will be part of a growing team of UK management staff delivering projects for a diverse portfolio of UK clients.
Responsibilities
Accountable for delivery of programme controls on a project ensuring effective planning and reporting.
Experience in Primavera and managing teams within a busy environment.
Identifying, analysing and delivering solutions for the client and project team.
Robust, accurate reporting both internally and externally.
Maintain good relationships with all external parties to enhance the reputation of the company.
Work on large multiâdisciplinary rail projects, tender planning and detailed understanding of Project Controls techniques including Earned Value Management and Critical Path analysis.
Deliver the periodic programme update and information regarding changes and delays that have impacted the programme on a periodâbyâperiod basis.
Ensure that all issues within the programme are highlighted and understood by Senior Management and provide appropriate planning advice.
Provide and share knowledge of the rail sector.
Deliver the necessary reports to allow Senior Managers to direct the project appropriately.
Work on own initiative, chair progress meetings and communicate clear and concise data to the Project team and the Client.
Extensive experience of using Microsoft products.
Qualifications and Skills
Member of APM (Desirable).
HNC/Degree in a relevant industry subject.
Experienced in managing programmes within major infrastructure projects.
Competent user of Primavera and associated risk analysis tools.
Understanding of multiâdisciplinary coordination across major infrastructure projects and global design teams.
Development of innovative programming and reporting solutions.
Excellent analytical and problemâsolving skills.
Must be able to produce programmes and associated reports.
Working knowledge of all PCâbased Windows environments and Microsoft Office suite.
