Our Systems Engineering and Assurance discipline includes leading experts in Systems Engineering, System Safety, Cybersecurity, Software Assurance, Human Factors/Ergonomics and PRAM. We wish to further expand this capability by augmenting our current core Systems Engineering capability. The role of Engineer (Systems Engineering) within the Systems Engineering & Assurance discipline will be key to enabling this capability growth. Individuals interested in such a role require a strong foundation in Systems Engineering, integration and assurance techniques, ideally within the transportation industry.
Missions/Main Duties
- The Systems Engineer will be responsible for delivering high-quality requirements, integration, interface management and verification & Validation services to our clients.
- Implementing processes to capture, manage, validate and measure the quality of systems engineering outputs and deliverables e.g. requirements.
- Working closely with Stakeholders to elicit requirements, ensuring the resulting requirements are clear, concise, demonstrable, unambiguous and achievable.
- Work with projects to ensure robust evidence for the validation and verification of Requirements.
- Implementing systems, processes and using industry standard tools (e.g. DOORS, Visio, Enterprise Architect) and process (e.g. Architecting) to support integration, requirements and V&V.
- Maintaining and developing competence in line with our systems engineering competence framework.
- Establishing and maintaining relationships with external parties (e.g. INCOSE/IfSE, SaRS) and clients (e.g. Network Rail, HS2, Heathrow Airport Ltd) to enhance the company reputation.
Profile/Skills
The suitable candidate will have proven and broad-ranging experience coupled with commercial acumen and a desire to learn and develop in their Systems Engineering understanding within an established design consultancy. Thus, we are looking for someone with the following knowledge and experience:
Essential requirements for the role include:
- Experience working in Requirements Management, DOORS, and document control on projects.
- Experience with large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Previous experience in the UK rail industry with respect to Systems Engineering application to turnkey mainline or mass transit railway projects.
- Knowledge of systems engineering concepts and processes, including project lifecycle delivery and applicable standards.
Desirable requirements for the role include:
- Experience of ISO/IEC/IEEE 15288 and ISO/IEC42010.
- Experience of DOORS Requirements Management Databases.
- Experience of configuration management methods/tools.
- Experience of undertaking verification, validation and system assurance activities on major infrastructure programmes.
