Position Overview

We are currently seeking an experienced Ecologist to join our growing engineering team, delivering survey work on infrastructure projects across Southern England. The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic UK engineering team serving diverse clients.

Main Responsibilities

  • Conduct preliminary ecological assessments, Phase 1 ecological surveys, UKHab, and condition assessments.
  • Possession of protected species licences is preferred; at least one personal protected species licence is desirable.
  • Undertake protected species and UKHab surveys.
  • Organize and develop work with minimal supervision, managing a challenging and flexible workload.
  • Maintain high personal responsibility and adapt to varying project needs.

Additional Duties

  • Perform field surveys from design through to delivery for major projects.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and external partners to provide ecological support.
  • Maintain records, handle administrative tasks, and undertake other duties as assigned.
  • Manage multiple projects, roles, and tasks.
  • Plan and execute ecological surveys and produce comprehensive reports.
  • Conduct protected species surveys and UKHab assessments.

Candidate Profile and Skills

  • Experience with UKHab, botany, and habitat condition assessments or protected species surveys and licensing.
  • Degree in Ecology or related environmental sciences; CIEEM membership is required.
  • Field Identification Skills Certificate (FISC) Level 4 or 5 is advantageous but not essential.
