We currently have an opportunity for a Graduate Civil Engineer to join our growing Engineering team in either our Leeds, Manchester or York offices from September 2026. This is a role with opportunity for training and career growth in a team with a strong culture of mentoring and support. The candidate will be involved in designing improvements to our rail network, increasing the freedom and opportunity for people in the UK to travel on the most environmentally friendly form of transport that exists. The Graduate Engineer will work with Senior Engineers, Engineers and Technicians in the efficient and effective delivery of projects ensuring the needs of the Client and the business are met. In this role you will have the opportunity to rotate around other civils disciplines including Bridges, Geotechnical and Water.

Missions / Main Duties

  • Contribute to projects as directed, ensuring Client commitments are met
  • Undertake the duties of designer as highlighted in CDM legislation
  • Act as designer on projects as directed
  • Deliver tasks to the required quality, time and budget
  • Work with other team members and other teams to ensure compliance with both Client and business requirements
  • Plan and prioritise assigned tasks effectively
  • Understand the relationship between hours worked and project cost
  • Contribute to the team’s achievement of Annual Plan by meeting or exceeding personal targets

Profile / Skills

  • Civil Engineering degree
  • Aspiring to professionally qualified Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status
  • Knowledge of safety standards and CDM regulations
  • Knowledge of civil engineering design principles and standards
  • Awareness of construction principles
  • Awareness of programming, delivery, budgets and timescales
  • Awareness of the importance of budgets and the commercial pressures that affect our work
  • Knowledge of Eurocodes
  • Experience in the use of computer programs to assist design
  • Good command of written and spoken English
