We are currently seeking a Principal/Senior HV Design Engineer in our Energy Team, ideally you will have experience of UK HV design experience working with 132/400k V systems.
This is an exciting opportunity to get involved in a wide variety of projects, across various technical disciplines with clients UK wide.
These projects can include Data Centres, HVDC, interconnectors, windfarms, substations, BESS, geotechnical solutions, protection systems, LVAC, FEED, reconnections schemes etc.
We currently have an opportunity for an experienced HV Design Engineer to join our engineering team.
This position within our MEP engineering team will suit a committed and ambitious engineer who can demonstrate strong leadership and interpersonal skills combined with commercial awareness and the ability to play their part in a dynamic high-performance team.
Missions/Main Duties
Main Duties
- Developing HV systems, concept/detailed design and design review, estimation, site supervision and support as required.
- Provide technical support to the team on all aspects of HV system engineering and design
- Prepare plant and equipment technical specification, power and cable route specifications, tender specifications, technical and progress reports
- Fully conversant with NGET, NETS, RES & BS7671:+A2:+A3
- Ensuring correct and accurate interface with other engineering functions involved in the projects, attend, and conduct internal and external meetings with colleagues, clients, and subcontractors.
- Perform technical calculations including TMF, EMF and EMC calculations, good understanding of sheath induced voltage calculations etc,
- Perform design reviews, verification of design
- Ensuring all project designs are compliant with CDM regulations, relevant legislation and company procedures
- Assist with temporary works design schemes.
- Maintain good working relations with client / designer / Team, together with our supply chain.
- Ensure that the drawings and specification documents contain sufficient, accurate information for construction of the works.
Formally request any missing information in sufficient time to allow the programme to proceed without delay.
- Ensure that inspection and test plans are completed as required by the PMP / Specification, including a check of dimension accuracy and quality

- Batchelors Degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering.
- HV design experience
- Previous experience with consultancy, contractor or utility in the energy sector is desirable.
- CEng status with current membership of IET or CIBSE
