The predicted salary is between 43200 - 72000 £ per year.

A Systems Safety Engineer takes responsibility for pro-actively managing all necessary safety tasks and activities across a number of dedicated SEA product lines and defence projects. Safety Engineer will be based at either our Barnstaple, Beckington or Bristol site. This role allows for flexible working. The salary for this role is up to £60k, depending on experience.
What you’ll be doing
- Responsible for the development of Safety Management Plans, Safety Case documentation, Risk identification and assessment, hazard log creation and maintenance, evidence gathering and requirements validation.
- Responsible for ensuring safety practices are aligned with industry and customer requirements and that legislative and standards compliance is assessed and met across all applicable products and projects.
- Utilising recognised and extant safety methods, technology and tools to ensure safety management throughout the development, delivery and overall life cycle of applicable products and projects, including Hazard Identification, Hazard and Risk Analysis and Risk Management.
- Liaising with internal and external customers on all aspects of the product/project lifecycle whilst being actively engaged within the various Engineering (Sys Eng; hardware; software; security; ILS; HF; qualification; integration & system test) and Management teams.
- Responsible for generating and presenting informative and accurate safety status at defined project and product development milestones for internal and external customers and representing SEA at key customer safety meetings.

The skills you need
- Previous experience in a similar role.
- Experience of producing Safety Management Plans and Safety Case documentation.
- Experience of Conducting Risk identification and Hazard assessments.
- Previous experience in Creating and maintenance of hazard logs maintenance, evidence gathering and requirements validation.
- Ideally have experience working within a product/project safety management environment as part of a defence contractor and conversant with UK MOD ASEMS and Defence Standards 00-056 & 00-055.
- Experience with Mil Std 882 would also be advantageous.
- Ideally be trained to Ship Safety Management Organisation (SSMO) level or equivalent.
- Highly motivated to drive safety into each new development programme through pro-active requirements capture, be able to engage with the engineering teams by being enthusiastic to support early design reviews and being pragmatic where necessary to achieve shared goals.
- You will be able to articulate safety arguments tailored to your audience(s) as well as provide comprehensive, clear and accurate technical safety documentation in line with contracted deliverables and timescales.
