Leads the ECAD drafting team, overseeing schematic, PCB, and wiring design outputs, managing standards, libraries, workflows, and toolsets, ensuring high‑quality documentation, effective collaboration, and continuous improvement across electrical and electronic CAD processes. The ECAD Electrical & Electronic Team Leader will be based at one of our Barnstaple, Beckington, or Bristol sites, and this role allows for flexible home working. The salary for this role is up to £66k, depending on experience.
What you’ll be doing:
- Lead and develop the ECAD drafting team, ensuring high‑quality schematic, PCB, and wiring documentation.
- Manage workloads, maintain standards, and provide technical guidance to deliver accurate, consistent, and timely ECAD outputs that support engineering, manufacturing and project needs.
- Own and improve ECAD processes, libraries, templates, and workflows. Drive standardization, configuration control, and integration with PLM systems while implementing continuous improvements, automation, and best practices to enhance efficiency, quality, and traceability across all ECAD activities.
- Collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, and supplier teams to support design reviews, resolve ECAD issues, ensure designs are manufacturable, contribute to project planning, provide effort estimates, and support tool upgrades, training and technology development initiatives.

The skills you need:
- ECAD Technical Expertise – Strong proficiency in schematic capture, PCB design, wiring diagrams, and ECAD toolsets, with a solid understanding of drafting standards and configuration control.
- Leadership & Team Development – Ability to lead, mentor, and develop a specialist ECAD team, managing workloads, priorities, and performance effectively.
- Process Ownership & Continuous Improvement – Skilled in maintaining libraries, standards, and workflows, while driving improvements, automation, and integration with PLM systems.
- Advanced proficiency in the Zuken E3 series and Altium Designer ECAD suites, including schematic capture, PCB layout, wiring design and panel layout creation.
- Strong electrical drafting capability, with the ability to produce clear, accurate and compliant drawings to defined standards.
- Demonstrable experience of creating and maintaining electrical parts libraries, including part modelling, attribute management and lifecycle sustainment.
- Excellent understanding of electrical drafting standards and practices, including BS/IEC conventions for symbols, wiring, and documentation structure.
