Producing 3D CAD models, drawings, calculations, and technical reports while collaborating with customers, suppliers, and project teams to resolve engineering challenges.
Mechanical Engineer will be based at either our Beckington, Bristol or Barnstaple site. This role allows for flexible working with regular visits to our Barnstaple facility.
The salary for this role is circa Β£40k, depending on experience.
Whatyoullbedoing
- Be accountable and responsible for their performance with support from senior members of staff and their line manager
- Be a team player with good communication and people skills, dynamic and driven, with a desire to improve knowledge and understanding
- Input into estimates of engineering effort and duration to deliver work packages
- Work with Mechanical Engineering Team Lead to support the provision of accurate progress reports and help to identify risks, opportunities and dependencies as they emerge
- Formulating prototype designs and producing physical representations
- Conduct mechanical engineering detailed design, first pass analysis (hand calculations and FEA), tolerance studies (including GD&T) and generation of manufacturing data packs (MDP) to relevant standards including BS8888 with support from more senior engineers
- Supporting inputs to Engineering Life Cycle reviews and peer reviews of mechanical designs in accordance with company and industry standards

Theskills you need
- A minimum of an upper second-class Honours degree in a relevant discipline or have equivalent job-related experience.
- Working towards becoming a Chartered Engineer with the IMechE or equivalent. xiskglj Demonstrable experience in the generation of technical documentation and drawing packs to BS8888 and relevant standards
- Experienced user of 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred) both for modelling and drawing creation
- Understanding of various aspects of Design for Excellence (DfX), including Manufacturing, Assembly, Test, Integration and Sustainability
- Knowledge Of Military and Commercial Mechanical & Environmental design standards including Def Stans, Mil Specs, CE/UKCA marking is preferred but not essential
- Experience throughout the full engineering life cycle
