ANALYTIQ – the SYSTEMIQ analytics backbone. World-class analytics is not sufficient to drive true system-level change, but it is a necessary ingredient. That's why SYSTEMIQ has ANALYTIQ, a dedicated core unit designed to apply top-tier analytics to address the most complex system challenges. ANALYTIQ harnesses a diverse array of analytical methodologies, from system optimization techniques like power and material flow modelling, to GIS modelling, as well as digital app development, which ranges from creating simple dashboards to designing tailor-made web applications. We employ these techniques to accelerate transitions across all SYSTEMIQ impact platforms, including energy, materials, sustainable finance, nature, and cities.

We have a long track record of driving system-changing impact through our GIS analytics which have provided the foundational insights for programmes such as Partnership for Forests, Regeneration, and SPACES to name a few. We are looking to expand our expertise in this area to embed GIS capabilities into our projects and platforms.

Position: We're seeking a talented Geospatial Data Scientist to join our ANALYTIQ team. In this role, you'll work across all our platform areas, leveraging your skills to create first-rate analytical models that address a myriad of topics. As part of your journey, you'll cultivate expertise in areas like strategy advisory, sustainable finance, coalition building, and venture capital. Your work will be highly strategic and involve collaboration with leading institutions in the field. This international role is aimed at delivering substantial, system-level impact on the world. You'll become part of a dynamic team of analytic experts who are dedicated to fostering system change through their work.

To thrive in this role, you'll need to showcase advanced problem-solving, analytical, and relationship-building skills that can drive breakthrough insights and actions, leading to impactful results.

Requirements: We're seeking individuals with a strong analytical track record, proven achievements, and impactful problem-solving skills. You've demonstrated your abilities in various contexts and have an interest in contributing to an entrepreneurial environment where your work can make a significant impact. You share SYSTEMIQ's passion for system change. This role is available in our offices in London, Amsterdam or Munich.

  • Work across SYSTEMIQ's platform teams (energy, materials, nature, finance) on live projects, bring geospatial analytics and expertise to support project delivery, and designing and building reusable models and interactive tools that deliver user insights.
  • Contribute to Analytiq's internal tooling stack: reusable scripts, data pipelines, and applications that let SYSTEMIQ project teams work faster and scale their impact.
  • Bringing the latest geospatial, data science, and AI-assisted development methods across the sustainability analytics community, and bring new techniques into live projects.

Skills / Experience:

  • Strong quantitative/analytical background, owning a master’s degree or higher in computer science, earth science, geography, engineering, environmental management, maths, physics or equivalent area.
  • Recent graduate or up to 2 years of work experience.
  • A strong track record of working with geospatial data, including hands-on use of GIS software (QGIS, ArcGIS) and geospatial Python libraries such as GeoPandas, Rasterio, and GDAL, plus experience handling raster and vector datasets at scale.
  • Familiarity with Python programming.
  • Understanding of open source and proprietary data sets.
  • A keen willingness to learn a broader set of skills to deliver impact.
  • Comfort using AI tools to accelerate the design and build of scripts, dashboards, or lightweight web applications - including prompting these tools effectively rather than only writing code by hand.

Beneficial additional skills:

  • Knowledge of nature/carbon accounting methodologies, climate risk analysis and scenario modelling.
  • Domain expertise on environmental science, climate models, and Integrated Assessment Models (IAMs), land-use or food-systems modelling, or extreme-weather/precipitation trend analysis.
  • Experience and interest in building and deploying web-based tools - both front- and back-end experience is a plus.
  • Database management skills and experience.

Diversity & Inclusion: At Systemiq, we absolutely believe diverse perspectives are essential to driving system change. We are committed to creating an inclusive workplace where people feel respected, supported and able to do their best work.
