Systemiq Capital backs audacious founders redefining the physical economy. We invest at Series A +/- across the UK, Europe and the US, focused on three areas: Electrification/Compute, Decoding Nature and Applied AI. We invest where founders are redefining how energy is traded, managed and used, and how natural and industrial systems become more intelligent, productive and resilient. Our edge comes from understanding the market forces, industry dynamics and system conditions that shape a company's path to scale and commercial value. It also comes from connecting founders with the specialist expertise, networks and commercially grounded support they need to build.

We are now fundraising and deploying from our third fund, continuing to back category defining companies that can produce top returns for our investors whilst also having a positive transformation effect on the physical economy. Our portfolio includes superstars like Ohme, Basecamp Research, ElectronX, and Mixx, among others. We are a small, high-calibre team that works closely together, thinks deeply, and holds itself to a high commercial standard.

THE ROLE

We are hiring an Investment Analyst or Associate to join our investment team. You will work across the full investment cycle, building conviction in the systems we back and developing into a credible investor in your own right. The role spans three core areas:

  • Sourcing and pipeline: Build a strong pipeline of exceptional founders across the UK, Europe and the US, and form an early view on where the commercial opportunity sits.
  • Network building: Build genuine relationships with founders, co-investors and technical experts across the systems we invest in.
  • Diligence and execution: Do the heavy lifting on deals: market and commercial diligence, financial modelling, investment memos, and support on term sheets, working alongside senior investors.
  • Systems expertise (research) and point of view: Build the network and expertise that give you a unique view on the market forces and system conditions shaping our three verticals, and turn that into sharp, commercial thinking the team and the market can use.
  • Portfolio support: Own the data-driven market analysis, quarterly portfolio reviews and announced deals process, and help connect founders to the specialist expertise and networks that sharpen their path to scale.

WHO YOU ARE

  • Sourcing spike and Entrepreneurial spirit: You build strong networks quickly, form real relationships with founders, investors and operators, organise events and gatherings and can show evidence of creating new initiatives or companies of your own.
  • Independent-minded: You consistently question the status quo, challenge consensus thinking, and forge your own path.
  • Experience: Usually 2-5 years in a fast-paced, commercial environment: Tech/Startup background, VC, Growth or relevant finance background. We will set the title, Analyst or Associate, to match your experience.
  • Commercially minded: You believe category-defining companies win because they make systems work better, cheaper or faster, and you can make that commercial logic clear.
  • Strong analyst: Top analytical, research and modelling skills, with the judgement to know what actually matters in a decision.
  • A sourcing spike: You build strong networks quickly and form real relationships with founders, investors and operators.
  • Curious: You want to understand how technologies actually work in the physical world, and how that turns into commercial value.
  • Intellectually honest: You express your views clearly, separate fact from opinion, and change your mind when the data changes.
  • A team player: Hungry but low-ego, and driven to build a world-class firm with a small team over the long term.

WHAT WE OFFER

  • Salary in line with the market and set to seniority, plus a discretionary bonus.
  • Fund carry.
  • Medical, dental and vision insurance.
  • Life insurance, income protection and sick pay.
  • A generous holiday allowance, twice-yearly team offsites, and regular learning opportunities.
  • Hybrid working, at least 3 days a week based in our London office.

LOCATION AND ELIGIBILITY

This role is based in London and will involve frequent international travel, as well as regular evening events and work. You need the right to work in the UK. We are unable to sponsor visas.
