The organization is seeking an experienced IT Site Lead to take ownership of day-to-day technology support at its Cardiff location.

Working alongside an existing onsite IT resource and broader global IT teams, the successful candidate will serve as the primary technology point of contact for the site, providing hands‑on technical support while proactively engaging with the business to identify issues, improve service, and ensure users have the technology support they need.

This is not a traditional reactive support role.

We are looking for someone who enjoys being visible within the business, builds strong relationships with users and stakeholders, takes ownership of issues, and actively looks for opportunities to improve the onsite technology experience.

  • ABOUT THE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Act as the primary onsite IT lead and technology point of contact for the Cardiff location.
  • Provide leadership, technical guidance, and escalation support to the existing onsite IT support resource.
  • Build strong relationships with business users and proactively identify and address technology issues and requirements.
  • Provide advanced second‑line end‑user support for IT systems, applications, hardware, and infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve desktop, laptop, peripheral, software, operating system, connectivity, and other end‑user technology issues.
  • Configure, install, deploy, and support PCs, peripherals, and desktop technologies.
  • Provide technical guidance to users and management regarding IT‑related issues and solutions.
  • Support local IT infrastructure, systems, applications, and technology services.
  • Coordinate with global infrastructure, Digital Workplace, Service Desk, security, and other IT teams to resolve issues and deliver technology services.
  • Support local implementations, technology deployments, upgrades, and rollout initiatives.
  • Ensure incidents, requests, troubleshooting activities, and resolutions are appropriately documented within the Service Desk system.
  • Identify opportunities to improve IT service delivery, user experience, efficiency, and effectiveness at the site.
  • Maintain appropriate technical documentation, procedures, and user guidance.
  • Support business‑critical and department‑specific applications as required.
  • Provide proactive communication and follow‑through on technical issues through resolution.
  • Participate in out‑of‑hours support activities when required.
  • ABOUT THE REQUIREMENTS
  • 4+ years of experience providing second‑line desktop, end‑user, or IT operations support within a corporate environment, with demonstrated experience operating at a senior or lead level.
  • Strong hands‑on knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office applications, and enterprise desktop technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of PCs, laptops, peripherals, and end‑user hardware and software configurations.
  • Experience installing, configuring, deploying, maintaining, and troubleshooting desktop technologies.
  • Good understanding of corporate IT infrastructure and network environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills with the ability to independently investigate and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to act as a technical escalation point and provide guidance to other IT support resources.
  • Strong customer service orientation with a proactive, business‑facing approach to IT support.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with users, business leaders, and technical teams.
  • Excellent communication, judgment, organizational, and follow‑through skills.
  • Ability to take ownership of issues and drive them through to resolution.
  • Comfortable working independently while collaborating with geographically distributed IT teams.
  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Degree, diploma, or equivalent qualification in Information Technology or a related discipline.
  • Current professional IT certifications.
  • Experience working within a global enterprise environment.
  • Experience supporting life sciences, scientific, laboratory, manufacturing, or similarly complex business environments.
  • Experience supporting IT implementations, deployments, and technology rollout projects.
  • Experience working with enterprise Service Desk and ITSM processes.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is an initial three‑month contract opportunity with the potential for extension depending on ongoing business requirements.
