The Role
- We are looking for a proactive and technically strong Financial Accountant to join our Corporate Finance team in Jersey on a permanent basis.
- This is a broad, hands-on position covering month-end reporting, statutory accounts, audit, regulatory reporting, treasury and day-to-day finance activities across the Group.
- The successful candidate will be comfortable working across different areas of finance, investigating issues independently and taking ownership of responsibilities through to completion.
Key Responsibilities
Monthly Reporting and Analysis
- Take ownership of monthly close activities for assigned entities, including journals, balance sheet reconciliations and reviews of financial results.
- Prepare accurate and timely monthly and Group reporting, including management information and recurring finance reports.
- Investigate significant movements and variances.
- Help improve reporting processes through data visualisation and automation tools.
Regulatory and Compliance Reporting
- Prepare and support regulatory submissions across jurisdictions including Jersey, the UK, Switzerland and Singapore.
- Maintain supporting schedules and reconciliations to ensure submissions are accurate, complete and delivered on time.
- Work with Finance, Legal and Compliance to understand and implement changes to regulatory reporting requirements.
Financial Statements and Audit
- Prepare statutory financial statements and supporting schedules for entities across multiple jurisdictions.
- Support Group consolidation and the preparation of year-end reporting adjustments.
- Coordinate audit requests, prepare supporting documentation and liaise directly with external auditors.
- Investigate and resolve audit queries and outstanding matters promptly.
Finance Operations
- Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, treasury, payroll accounting and cash-management processes.
- Prepare and review bank, cash and other key balance sheet reconciliations.
- Support payment processes across multiple entities, currencies and banking platforms.
- Maintain accurate intercompany balances and resolve reconciling items.
- Ensure finance processes comply with established controls, approval requirements and internal policies.
Budgeting and Forecasting
- Support the annual budgeting and forecasting process.
- Prepare supporting schedules and analyse actual results against budgets and forecasts.
- Investigate significant variances and provide clear explanations to relevant stakeholders.
Systems and Process Improvement
- Support the implementation and enhancement of finance systems, workflows and reporting solutions.
- Identify opportunities to simplify, standardise and automate finance processes.
- Support the implementation and enhancement of finance systems, workflows and reporting solutions.
- Document and maintain key finance processes and controls.
- Contribute to projects including new entity implementation, banking initiatives, system changes and process improvements.
Experience and Skills
- Part-qualified or newly qualified accountant with strong technical accounting knowledge and financial reporting experience.
- Experience within financial services, asset management, audit or another complex multi-entity and multi-currency environment.
- Experience preparing statutory accounts and supporting external audits.
- Strong understanding of balance sheet accounting, accruals, prepayments, intercompany accounting and foreign-currency transactions.
- Strong Excel skills and the ability to analyse, reconcile and interpret financial data.
- Experience using ERP or finance systems. Exposure to SAP would be advantageous.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills and the ability to investigate issues independently.
- Proactive approach with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with stakeholders across the business.
Qualifications
- Degree-level education or equivalent.
- Part-qualified or newly qualified ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent.
