We are working with an Investment Manager in London who are seeking an experienced Infrastructure and Network Engineer. The role will focus on maintaining the firm’s current hybrid cloud, network, Internet and server connectivity infrastructure, and the Palo Alto firewall estate for a demanding business environment. The individual will deal with various issues, including On-Prem/Cloud Infrastructure, networking problems, and routine scheduled network infrastructure upgrades.

The candidate must be hands-on and have experience working with Azure, Juniper, PaloAlto systems, M365 and Windows Server. IaC concepts, with scripting know-how using PowerShell and Terraform to automate deployments and tasks.

You would be expected to:

  • Maintain and monitor a highly available and complex hybrid cloud and network infrastructure
  • Perform daily system and network monitoring
  • Repair and recover from hardware and software failures across the entire infrastructure stack
  • Identify issues proactively and suggest solutions
  • Provide some end-user support including VIP support
  • Manage switch and firewall software and update deployments
  • Do occasional out-of-hours and weekend work
  • Have strong interpersonal skills
  • Be eager to learn and have attention to detail
  • Produce and maintain documentation

Have a technical understanding of:

  • The design and implementation of network solutions and improving the efficiency of current networks
  • Installing, configuring and supporting network equipment including, firewalls, routers, switches, load balancers and WiFi access points
  • Experience of Juniper/Cisco network switches and PaloAlto firewalls
  • Supporting Windows Services such as certificate services, AD, DNS, NTP, GPOs and DHCP
  • Procuring network equipment and managing subcontractors involved with network maintenance and installation
  • Configuring firewalls, routing and switching, to maximise network efficiency and security
  • Maximising network performance through ongoing monitoring and troubleshooting
  • Maintaining a schedule of updates to the latest firmware releases
  • Investigating faults in a network
  • Reporting network status to key stakeholders
  • Azure cloud computing concepts and design
  • Supporting all M365-related services, both backend and front end
  • Knowledge of Terraform and Powershell
  • Azure AD/Entra ID and related services like Conditional Access
