Role Outline The Product Owner will work closely with a wide range of stakeholders including Product Management & Customers to understand what problems our customers face & why they need to be solved. They will understand in detail the requirements of our customers and be responsible for breaking these down & translating them to our Engineering teams to ensure that all are focused on delivering both customer and business benefits. Ability to work away from home and willingness to travel will be required at times.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Gather requirements from Product Management and other stakeholders and own the conversion of these requirements into user stories + supporting documentation (e.g. Release Notes)
- Be responsible for the determining of key features of initiatives / projects in a timely manner as part of Release Planning creating value for both the customer and the company.
- Manage the product backlog, prioritising user stories for implementation and providing overall visibility to the backlog.
- Act as liaison between Engineering and the user to interpret and relay clear use case and customer problems to the Engineering teams.
- Work closely with Engineering + UI/UX , participating in scrum meetings and overall guidance to the Engineering teams, setting sprint goals, providing clarification and articulating / documenting new user stories + acceptance criteria.
- Working with Engineering to establish \”How\” & \”When\” key features will be delivered as part of a clear Release plan and be responsible for monitoring performance against the agreed release dates.
- Provide clear acceptance criteria for Engineering to work with – Conforming to the agreed \”Definition of Ready\”.
- Participate / lead focus groups to elicit customer requirements – e.g. Carry out \”Show + Tells\” of progress to date.
- Work collaboratively with Engineering & stakeholders to manage dependencies and ensure that issues & risks are communicated.
- Contribute to Go to Market / Product Launch collateral .
- Develop and maintain a sound understanding of the customers business processes / requirements, becoming a domain expert, able to do demo\’s when required.
- Act as the representative of Product Management, with a sufficient understanding of the market, customer and business to make informed decisions, requiring a tactical delivery focus to ensure sprint and delivery success.

- Demonstrates proactive requirements analysis – e.g. scope, risks, complexity of changes. Challenges constructively when required and provides feedback.
- Ability to write clean, clear user stories + acceptance criteria which are simple and easy to follow.
- Stays up to date with the latest technology and is able to feed into the Technology Roadmap.
- Ability to prioritise user stories and convey these via the agile grooming process.
- Can positively share product knowledge with stakeholders and can champion the changes being made.
- Flexible and pragmatic, able to respond to shifting priorities, demands + timelines by using effective analytical and problem-solving skills – Problem focused.
- Accredited to the agreed level for the role.
- Experience of managing lifecycle management tools – eg. Jira / Aha / Adobe XD.
- Clear understanding of software Product & Development best practices + methodologies (e.g. Pragmatic Marketing / Product Focus / Tarigo / SAFE / Waterfall / SCRUM etc).
- Demonstrates sound judgement, able to make decisions independently, recognising when to escalate for more senior approval.
- Fulfil the role of Product Owner, leading projects and taking ownership for end-to-end delivery.
