About The Role
As Lead Cloud Operations Engineer, you will take ownership of the design, deployment and management of secure, scalable and resilient cloud environments. Working closely with technical and business stakeholders, you'll help define cloud strategy, enhance operational excellence and ensure our infrastructure supports current and future business needs. You'll lead by example, providing technical direction, coaching and mentorship while fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration and accountability.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, deployment, management and continuous improvement of Microsoft Azure infrastructure and cloud services.
- Provide technical leadership, guidance and mentoring to the Cloud Engineering team
- Act as the technical escalation point for complex incidents, troubleshooting, root cause analysis and problem management activities.
- Design and implement secure, resilient and scalable cloud solutions aligned with business and operational requirements.
- Drive automation, Infrastructure as Code and continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and reduce operational overhead.
- Ensure Azure environments comply with security, governance, compliance and operational standards.
- Maintain and enhance high availability, backup, disaster recovery and business continuity capabilities across the cloud estate.
- Collaborate with Development, Platform Engineering, Security and other stakeholders to deliver and support cloud-based solutions.
- Produce and maintain technical documentation, standards, runbooks and operational procedures.
- Stay current with emerging cloud technologies and best practices, promoting innovation and continual improvement across the team.
What We're Looking For
We're seeking a cloud leader with significant experience delivering enterprise-scale cloud solutions, particularly within Microsoft Azure environments.
You Will Bring
- Significant experience in cloud engineering, with a focus on Microsoft Azure.
- Proven track record in designing, deploying, and managing complex cloud environments.
- Strong Infrastructure as Code experience using ARM, Bicep, Terraform or similar technologies.
- Experience with CI/CD tooling and deployment platforms such as Octopus Deploy, Team City, GitHub, Azure DevOps or similar.
- Experience with Azure networking, compute, storage, databases, security and identity services.
- Experience leading and mentoring technical teams.
- Experience implementing security, governance and compliance controls within Azure.
- Strong understanding of high availability, disaster recovery and backup strategies.
- Advanced PowerShell scripting and automation skills.
Knowledge of ITIL or similar frameworks, and an advanced Azure certification equivalent to AZ-305, AZ-104, AZ-400 or higher, would be beneficial for this role.
