We are Systal: a global managed network, cloud and security transformation specialist. We provide complex and strategic technology services for enterprise businesses, managing 200,000+ assets across 93 countries. These services help our customers achieve strategic technology transformation and maximise the business value, security and innovative potential of their IT infrastructure.

As a Security Sales Engineer specializing in Cybersecurity Managed Services, you will serve as a trusted technical advisor bridging the gap between complex security solutions and customer business needs. In this pre-sale’s role, you will work closely with Systal's business development team to facilitate the technology evaluation and contract proposal stages of the sales process by handling bid and opportunity requests, coordinating RFI/RFP responses, and crafting tailored proposals for managed security services deals. The target customers are large enterprises and UK public sector organizations, so you will often tailor solutions to meet strict compliance, data sovereignty, and procurement requirements of these clients.

What will you be doing?

  • Take ownership of technical responses to new business opportunities.
  • Managing and completing Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and Requests for Information (RFIs).
  • Work closely with internal teams – including the Cybersecurity Incident Response Team (CSIRT) and Security Operations Center (SOC) teams – to scope and design managed security solutions that meet customer needs.
  • Define technical requirements and architectures for services such as 24x7 SOC monitoring, incident response workflows, identity management solutions, cloud security (SASE), and threat protection services.
  • Translate customer needs into detailed technical proposals, statements of work, and solution diagrams/documentation.
  • Develop and validate pricing for proposed solutions. Work with internal finance and product teams to create cost estimates and pricing models that are competitive yet profitable.
  • Partner with the sales team in customer engagements by providing expert pre-sales technical support.
  • Attend customer meetings (both virtual and on-site) to present our service offerings and conduct customized product demonstrations or workshops.
  • Tailored Solutions for Enterprise/Public Sector: Customize solution designs and proposals to fit the specific needs of large enterprises and UK public sector clients.
  • Act as a subject matter expert across our cybersecurity services portfolio. Provide domain expertise in areas such as incident response, threat monitoring, identity and access management, cloud security architectures (SASE), and application security to guide customers in solution decisions.

Who are we looking for?

  • Proven experience in a customer-facing technical role such as Sales Engineer, Solutions Architect, or Security Consultant in the cybersecurity domain.
  • Significant and demonstrable experience in technical pre-sales or solutions engineering, demonstrating the ability to drive complex sales cycles and support enterprise customers.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity principles and hands-on familiarity with multiple domains.
  • Experience with security operations (SOC monitoring, SIEM), incident response processes (CSIRT), identity and access management (IAM), and cloud security solutions.
  • You should have a strong grasp of modern security architectures like Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) – a cloud-based model unifying networking and security services – as well as knowledge of implementing WAF and DDoS protection services and Identity-as-a-Service (IDaaS) solutions for cloud identity management.
  • Understanding of SOC processes and tools (SIEM, endpoint detection, etc.), along with hands-on experience in network security monitoring and incident response, is essential.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft security technologies is essential.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Sentinel, Microsoft’s cloud-native SIEM platform for threat detection and response.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Exceptional technical writing skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to produce high-quality documentation, including RFP/RFI responses, proposals, design diagrams, and customer-facing reports.
  • A collaborative mindset with experience working in cross-functional teams.
