The Director of Artificial Intelligence is accountable for enabling and scaling AI across Syspro’s products, platform, and R&D execution environment. Reporting to the CPTO, this role ensures AI is platform-native, governed, and commercially viable. In partnership with the SVP, Platform & SaaS, the role embeds AI capabilities into SYSPRO’s core architecture and SaaS model.

While Product Management retains full ownership of defining product AI use cases, customer value and prioritisation, this role ensures they can be delivered consistently, safely, and at scale through robust platform capabilities, tooling, and lifecycle processes. Ultimately, the role establishes a disciplined AI foundation that accelerates delivery, reduces complexity, and strengthens Syspro’s long‑term product and platform advantage.

• Own and maintain shared AI platforms, services, and architectural patterns used across Syspro’s products and engineering teams.
• Embed AI capabilities into the core platform and SaaS architecture to prevent standalone or duplicated implementations.
• Provide reusable AI components, frameworks, and standards that accelerate product delivery across multiple teams.
• Define and lead the strategy for AI‑assisted tools across Product, Engineering, and Quality, including selection, standardisation, and rollout.
• Integrate AI tools into delivery workflows and drive adoption through enablement, onboarding, and best‑practice guidance.
• Establish governance standards for product AI and R&D AI tooling, covering security, IP protection, ethical use, and quality controls.
• Manage the lifecycle of AI models, services, and tools, including performance optimisation, cost management, updates, and structured retirement.
• Prevent uncontrolled AI experimentation and ensure all AI use follows governance, architectural, and security standards.
• Define and maintain metrics for AI effectiveness in both product capabilities and R&D productivity.
• Provide transparent, data‑driven reporting to the CPTO, Platform Leadership, and Product Leadership on progress, value, risks, and return on investment.
• Support prioritisation and investment decisions by generating insights on impact, efficiency, and operational outcomes of AI initiatives.
• Partner with Platform, SaaS, Product Management, and Engineering leaders to ensure AI capabilities are scalable, sustainable, and aligned to commercial and technical strategy.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related technical field.
• 10+ years in engineering, platform engineering, AI/ML infrastructure, data platforms, or equivalent technical leadership roles.
• Proven track record delivering AI platforms, ML infrastructure, or large‑scale AI capabilities within product-led or SaaS environments.
• Leadership experience implementing AI governance, model lifecycle processes, and operational frameworks aligned to security, quality, and ethical standards.
• Experience integrating AI into SaaS architectures, multi-tenant systems, or cloud-native platforms.
• Prior ownership of AI tooling strategies, including development, testing, analytics, or productivity tooling.
• Background working across Product, Engineering, Platform, Quality, and Security teams in complex, highly coordinated environments.
• Experience managing the full model lifecycle: versioning, monitoring, performance optimisation, cost management, and scale.
• Strong understanding of AI/ML platforms, model lifecycle management, MLOps principles, and cloud-native architecture.
• Ability to define and maintain governance frameworks covering security, ethics, quality, IP protection, and controlled AI usage.
• Skilled in standardising AI‑assisted development workflows, engineering tooling, and best‑practice automation.
• Strong analytical capability with the ability to turn AI performance insights into data‑driven leadership decisions.
• Excellent cross‑functional communication and influence skills, with the ability to partner effectively across Product, Engineering, Platform, SaaS, and R&D functions.
