Key Accountabilities:

  • Co-ordination of all depot activities ensuring the smooth running of depot
  • Supporting efficient dispatch of all routes and products to customers on a daily basis
  • Coaching and motivating members of the delivery team
  • Analysing the performance of drivers by accompanying them on their routes
  • Ensuring delivery procedures and policies are adhered to at all times
  • Effectively liaising with sales, transport, and operation departments to resolve all issues in a timely manner
  • Ensuring equipment breakdown and repairs are minimised and reported
  • Supporting shift manager in ensuring that company vehicles are properly maintained, cleaned and safely operated to reduce accidents and enhance the company brand
  • Involved in identifying, coordinating training as appropriate to meet driver needs
  • Ensuring the premises are maintained to the highest standards
  • Supporting Security and Health & Safety Procedures relevant to site
  • Leading by example and applying company policy and procedures in a fair, consistent and unbiased manner
  • Supporting absence management, investigation and disciplinaries

Requirements:

  • Experience in a relevant supervisory role in a high volume, technology driven, time sensitive distribution operation
  • Experience within the Food distribution industry is advantageous
  • Must possess a full Drivers Licence
  • Competent in the use of IT systems including Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word
  • Good understanding of the Department of Transport regulations (Tachograph legislation, Work Time Directive etc.)
  • Ability to influence a team to deliver the highest standards of service
  • Ability to plan and organise your own and your teams work activities in a safe, efficient and effective manner
  • Ability to analyse, interpret and explain and present relevant business data
  • Fluent English - reading and writing
  • Strong knowledge of the surrounding geographical area
  • Flexible approach to working hours
