Job description for the role of General Operative – Nights/Evening at Sysco’s new Belfast facility. The role involves managing order selection, inventory and warehouse operations in a fast‑paced environment.

Key Accountabilities

  • Meet or exceed minimum efficiency levels established through engineered production standards; work efficiently, proactively and remain health and safety conscious.
  • Maintain accuracy levels as required.
  • Develop knowledge of product, placement and inventory control techniques and procedures.
  • Maintain hygiene and good housekeeping in the department.
  • Ensure reliable attendance and punctuality.
  • Protect health and safety of self and others.
  • Maintain positive relationships with team members.
  • Keep work area tidy and organized.
  • Report damages, accidents and food safety issues.
  • Adjust shifts and start times to meet business needs.
  • Have previous experience of order selection in a FMCG warehouse.

Requirements

  • Select and load orders in dry, cooler and freezer warehouse environments.
  • Label and select products following outbound procedures.
  • Stack product on pallets following proper procedures.
  • Operate electric powered pallet truck, LLOP or forklift to transport product.
  • Stage pallets for loading on proper bay locations.
  • Follow Sysco preferred work methods; report unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Comply with HACCP policy.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and hygienic warehouse.
  • Safely operate mechanical handling equipment, arm mounted terminals and handheld devices.
  • Perform pre‑ and post‑trip inspections and associated paperwork.
  • Use shrink‑wrap on loading dock.
  • Perform inventory integrity checks.
  • Load/unload trucks using MHE and operate loading bays as per procedure.
  • Communicate effectively at all levels of the business.
  • Other duties as assigned by manager.
