Sysco GB are now recruiting a Financial Accountant - Capital Spend & Fixed Assets to join the Controls Finance team on a full time, permanent basis in Ashford, Kent. Reporting to the Finance Manager, this is a key role that will be responsible for the financial accounting for over £350m worth of Capital Expenditure projects. This role will be responsible for reviewing new capital requests submitted by the business, to ensure proper documentation and business cases have been attached, prior to taking them to the monthly Capital Committee. This role will also act as Finance Business Partner for the project teams, within the Engineering and IT departments, working together to ensure adherence with approved budgets and timely capitalisation of project expenditure post completion. This role will also be accountable for co-ordinating post completion reviews of key projects to ensure key benefits identified in the original business case have been delivered, on learnings taken.

This role is offering flexible hybrid working with 1 day per week based in our Ashford, Kent office for team collaboration and meetings, so you must be within a commutable distance.
Key Accountabilities
- Responsibility for reviewing new capital expenditure requests, co-ordinating with project owners to ensure proper documentation and business cases are attached, prior to tabling at the monthly Capital Committee meetings.
- Business Partnering the Engineering and IT project owners to ensure adherence with approved budgets, including resubmission to Capital Committee where additional funding is required.
- Co-ordinating completion of capitalisation templates post project completion, ensuring this is done in a timely manner.
- Responsible for Post Completion Reviews on key projects, ensuring review against original business case is completed.
- External & Internal Audit support.
- Annual Statutory Accounts and Corporation Tax support.
- Ad hoc project support in a Transformational environment.
About you:
You will ideally have experience working within a fast-paced finance environment, and be a qualified accountant (CIMA ACCA or ACA) with experience in a commercial setting. We are looking for someone who holds strong analytical skills with the ability to quickly understand and interpret complex information. You will have strong communication skills with colleagues at all levels and be able to clearly explain financial matters to colleagues across the business. Excellent attention to detail is required as well as the ability to identify resolutions to issues that arise. Flexibility to travel to Ashford, Kent each week is essential.
