Brakes is recruiting for a HR Operations Administrator to join the team in Ashford on a 12-month fixed term contract. This role reports to the HR Operations Manager. It offers a hybrid working arrangement with 1-2 office days per week for team collaboration and meetings. The role requires travel and being within commutable distance.

Responsibilities

  • Administer all employee lifecycle changes within your customer group — new starters, in-employment, leavers and ex-employee procedures, ensuring all relevant outside agencies and internal departments are informed where necessary.
  • Respond to HR queries from People Managers and colleagues; correspond with the relevant HR Partner, HR Business Partner, HR Director or specialists when necessary.
  • Work cross-functionally with HR colleagues supporting the same business area and make proactive suggestions, considering the implications of actions (e.g., resourcing).
  • Collaborate closely with HR Partners and HR Business Partners for areas supported, acting as a trusted partner to those business areas.
  • Ensure all necessary information is received and processed accurately and on time on relevant databases (e.g., SAP, pensions, expenses, mileage, healthcare).
  • Support specific HR projects to ensure viability of suggestions and effective rollout of initiatives.
  • Review and enhance HR Operations processes and documentation to maintain efficient, customer-focused service.
  • Share best practices across the HR team and participate in the delivery of HR and Payroll Services academy sessions.
  • Undertake companywide tasks in addition to HR administration, including maternity/paternity administration, pension auto-enrolment, updating templates, death in service administration, colleague references, and managing one-off payments.
  • Demonstrate a customer-first mindset with an innovative and agile approach, collaborating to drive results.
  • Be resilient, learn from mistakes, and contribute to future solutions while upholding integrity and inclusivity.

Qualifications

  • Strong communication and people skills, with the ability to deal with stakeholders and colleagues at all levels across the organisation to provide excellent customer service.
  • CIPD Level 3 and SAP experience is highly advantageous.
