Are you a skilled design engineer with a thirst for working across challenging yet exciting projects in a variety of maritime markets. SYR are once again working with one of our longest standing customers to source them a design engineer in response to market demand and team growth. Having already placed close to ten members of this team we know the brand and their clients well and attest to the exciting and challenging nature of their work across both serial production and one of custom vessels. With demand continuing for their services they now seek a talented all rounder to join them at a mid or senior level, tasked with the following duties:

  • Working with external clients to design and engineer a host of solutions across composites, systems, mechanical, electrical and more
  • Designing in 3D CAD (Rhino or Solidworks)
  • Sourcing novel systems and items through trusted and new suppliers to meet or exceed client need
  • Population of BOMs where applicable
  • Design to class, flag or regulatory requirements
  • Client liaison (where applicable)
  • On site attendance at shipyards and events where required

Our ideal candidate will come from a degree in naval architecture, design or mechanical engineering and have 5 or more years experience working in either serial build or custom vessel projects. You'll possess expertise in 3D CAD, be a solid communicator with both colleagues and clients and enjoy working on new challenges. The role will see you office based in Hampshire with the potential of some local or international travel, though this will be minimal.
