SYR are seeking a skilled & motivated Marine Technician (Shipwright) to join our clients service team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the repair, servicing & maintenance of luxury yachts, ensuring that all work meets our clients exacting standards of quality, safety & performance. This is a hands-on role that requires a strong technical background across multiple marine systems & a passion for delivering exceptional workmanship.
Requirements:
- The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three yearsβ experience in a similar role, in yacht maintenance, boatbuilding, or marine engineering, ideally within the luxury sector.
- Excellent troubleshooting & problem-solving skills, combined with a high attention to detail & a commitment to quality workmanship, are essential.
- The role requires good communication skills and the ability to work effectively both independently & as part of a team.
- A full driving licence & a willingness to travel to customer locations are required, along with a genuine passion for sailing & a solid understanding of the marine industry.
Responsibilities:
- Carry out maintenance, repairs & installations on mechanical, electrical, plumbing & hydraulic systems onboard the clients yachts.
- Perform diagnostic & troubleshooting work to identify & resolve technical issues efficiently.
- Work closely with the Project Management Team to deliver high-quality service within agreed timescales.
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with company standards, safety regulations & customer requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of work completed & materials used.
- Assist with yacht commissioning, refit & upgrade projects as required.
- Contribute to maintaining a clean, safe & well-organised workshop & work environment.
- Support other technicians & team members to achieve shared goals and project deadlines.
Technical knowledge:
- Marine technicians must have a strong understanding of mechanical & electrical systems & be able to troubleshoot & diagnose problems effectively.
- They must also be familiar with a wide range of tools & equipment used in yacht repair & maintenance.
- Proficient in the use of tools & equipment required to service & repair yachts.
- Good communication skills & ability to work as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail & ability to work to a high standard.
- Must have a driving license & be willing to travel to customer locations, as required.
- Previous experience working in a marine or related industry.
- Proven ability in mechanical, electrical & plumbing systems repair & maintenance.
- Ability to work independently & as part of a team.
- Excellent communication & interpersonal skills.
