About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Mechanical Design Engineer (Uncrewed Surface Vessel) to join our expanding team within our USV production facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of engineers to design and develop Unmanned Surface Vessels from concept to production.
- Conduct detailed mechanical design, including component selection, material specifications, and manufacturing processes, while ensuring adherence to industry standards and regulations.
- Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) tools to create accurate 3D models and engineering drawings (SolidWorks preferable).
- Prototype design, build, testing and evaluation for performance, making necessary design modifications as required.
- Perform structural analysis, FEA and simulations to validate designs, identify potential issues, and optimize performance.
- Work closely with the manufacturing team to support the production process and ensure efficient and cost‑effective manufacturing of the designed systems.
- Collaborate with external suppliers and vendors to source components and materials, ensuring quality and reliability.
- Stay updated with the latest technological advancements and industry trends to incorporate innovative solutions into designs.
Qualifications and Skills
- A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 3+ years' experience in mechanical design of electro‑mechanical solutions.
- Proven experience in mechanical design in the USV, vehicle design or other similar systems.
- Proficient in computer-aided design (CAD) software SolidWorks.
- Confident with DFMA, with good knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and industry standards.
- Strong analytical skills, including experience with structural analysis, FEA and simulation tools.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as in a team.
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross‑functional teams and external stakeholders.
- Passion for uncrewed vehicles or robotics and a desire to contribute to the growth of the unmanned systems industry.
